Job Summary
Being a Dietitian is more than knowing what foods to eat; it is creating a nutritional bespoke plan that gives vulnerable people the energy and determination to build a brighter future. As a Dietitian at Bere Clinic, Waterlooville, Hampshire, you will work 37.5 hours a week with a specialist service that supports young people aged 12‑18 with eating disorders or eating difficulties and comorbid conditions such as depression, OCD, anxiety or self‑harm. With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will manage a complex caseload, build rapport with service users, learn their health concerns, goals, dietary restrictions and preferences, and create healthy nutrition plans.
Main Responsibilities
- Assess service users’ weight and advise on weight, calories, and special meal plans.
- Carry a complex inpatient and outpatient caseload as an autonomous dietetic practitioner, using evidence‑based, people‑focused principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Conduct pre‑admission screenings for new referrals and outline future intervention plans.
- Liaise with the catering department to ensure menus are reviewed regularly, allergen lists are up to date, and portion sizes meet individual needs.
- Support the development and co‑facilitation of group activities, psycho‑education groups, and staff training.
- Provide weekly progress reviews and feedback to the multidisciplinary team in ward rounds.
- Offer one‑to‑one nutrition counselling sessions to explore eating behaviours, beliefs, attitudes, stage of change, and barriers to behaviour change.
- Deliver the ‘Nourish to Flourish’ psycho‑education group, helping patients understand their eating disorders and critically examine beliefs about food and bodies.
- Deliver one‑to‑one family support, helping families understand the relationship between food and health and strategies for supporting the patient at home.
Location & Working Environment
Bere Clinic is a spacious facility with 12 en‑suite bedrooms, communal lounge, dining area, large activity room, and dedicated spaces for individual, group and family sessions. The culture is built on teamwork, recovery and compassion at the heart of the service. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, acting as a key link between nursing, catering and nutrition support strategies on the unit.
Qualifications
- HCPC registered.
- BSc in Dietetics or post‑graduate diploma in Dietetics.
- Post‑qualification training and experience working with people with eating disorders, preferably in inpatient settings.
- Knowledge and understanding of eating disorders in children and young people.
- Commitment to maintaining professional competence at a high level.
