Location:Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, Surrey
Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Hours: hours per week-Start time 8.am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm

As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group have recently opened (September 5) a brand-new SEND Secondary School in Chaldon, Surreyfor young people aged - who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. We are looking to recruit a Senior Administration Assistant to join our team at Aurora Chaldon School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey. You will be based at Aurora Chaldon School with a requirement to work out of our satellite site Caterham on occasion.

The main purpose of the role:

The purpose of the Senior Administration Assistant is to provide an efficient and effective administrative service to the school team and to assist and support the School Business Manager in managing and responding to issues relating to the support functions within the school, including First Aid, off-site activities and Catering.

Key duties:

1. Provide an efficient administrative support function to the school team.
2. Be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on Engage, the school’s Management Information System.
3. Inputting and retrieving data using the school’s databases and systems.
4. Provide an effective secretarial and administrative support service to the Senior Leadership Team
5. Assist the School Business Manager in the continuous review of all process and procedures to ensure the most effective, efficient and compliant services are provided.
6. To prepare relevant information and reports for Ofsted Inspections and internal audits, delivering the information in the absence of School Business Manager.
7. Manage incoming and outgoing e-mails, ensuring that responses to these are completed.
8. Report any health and safety concerns in a timely manner, according to school policy.
9. Attending and participating in all appropriate meetings where directed, invited, delegated or otherwise scheduled, as being relevant to the post.
10. To undertake any other duties and/or responsibilities as directed by the School Business Manager or Headteacher on request.

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required. The successful candidate is likely to be allocated a particular area of responsibility. pupil administration, finance or HR. Please see the link below for our full job description:

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidate qualities:

11. GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
12. High level of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication
13. Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role (Preferably in a school setting)
14. Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to use range of databases once trained.
15. Accurate typing, touch typing desirable.
16. Organised, good time management.
17. Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable.
18. Experience of SEN children/young adults desirable.
