Main duties of the job

This department has a team of nine consultant urologists, six middle grade registrars, one junior specialist doctor (lower) and four Foundation Year 1 trainees. This team is complemented by two Advanced Nurse Practitioners, three McMillan Nurse Specialists and two nurse specialists. The department of urology provides full range of diagnostic facilities including multiparametric MRI, PET scanning, nuclear medicine imaging and trans‑perineal prostate biopsies. We provide all general urology care for adults and children. Being a partner of the Black Country Alliance, our nephrectomy services are at Rusell Hall Hospital and pelvic surgery is referred to the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital. We also work in close collaboration with the oncology team at the University Hospitals, Birmingham. The department runs regular general and specialist outpatients' clinics such as stone clinics, erectile dysfunction, and paediatric clinics. Full range of day case procedures and day case surgery is provided, besides inpatient facilities for more complex cases. With on‑site lithotripter, state‑of‑the‑art Moses laser technology, and complete facilities for endoscopic stone management, we are at the forefront of urinary tract stone management.
