Fundraising officer (individual giving)

Manchester
Mustard Tree
Fundraising officer
Posted: 20h ago
Offer description

Mustard Tree's individual giving strategy is twofold. Firstly, it is a movement for change: while you will have income, engagement and retention targets, the role is just as much about helping people across Greater Manchester understand what we do, the scale we now operate at, who we support, and how they can – as donors, advocates and members of the community – support Mustard Tree, our clients and the city region. Second, it is about securing the charity's future by building sustainable income streams.

At Mustard Tree, we are on a mission to combat poverty and prevent homelessness, driven by our core values: Belief, Dignity, Opportunity, Diversity and Partnership. The need for our services is greater than ever, with unprecedented demand across Greater Manchester. As our charity continues to grow, we are striving to become a leading force for change, creating real opportunities for people to improve their economic well‑being.

Individual Giving and Stewardship

* Steward a cohort of existing monthly donors through a variety of channels, engagement points and opportunities. Help people understand why their continued support is vital.
* Grow our number of direct debits by helping develop a new campaign, alongside the Fundraising Manager, then spearheading the content, communication and engagements.
* Reduce direct debit cancellations through proactive relationship management and personalised donor engagement.
* Manage all enquiries, emails and queries relating to individual giving, donations and support on events, ensuring timely and professional responses.
* Oversee the day‑to‑day engagement and responses across Mustard Tree's social media channels, particularly our Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.
* Host, tour, meet and present to potential donors, philanthropists and supporters to build meaningful relationships and encourage ongoing support.
* Work with the Fundraising Manager to assign responsibility for new and existing donors, philanthropists and targets.
* Maintain accurate data entry, contact management and income tracking within the CRM system, ensuring data integrity and clear reporting.
* Provide weekly updates on progress towards targets, expected income and cash closure, contributing accurate forecasting.
* Support the Fundraising Team in developing and publishing compelling fundraising copy, decks, social media content and donation materials.

Events Fundraising

* Work with the Fundraising Team to forecast events income and build the 12‑month events fundraising pipeline.
* Support the delivery and growth of our existing events portfolio, including The Great Manchester Run, Tough Mudder, Trafford Abseil and October Half Marathon, ensuring each event's success and alignment with fundraising goals.
* Research and develop new events and opportunities to strengthen our annual fundraising calendar.
* Empower and support individuals to plan and host independent fundraising events by developing and promoting a comprehensive fundraising toolkit.
* Support the planning and running of our Fundraising Dinner, helping secure attendance from key individuals and philanthropists.

General Duties

* Supporting the Fundraising Team where required, including cover and event attendance.
* Host two Corporate Volunteering days a week – a morning tour and afternoon debrief.
* Support the Fundraising & Finance Teams with data entry, CRM updates and the creation of KPI data when required.
* Support other staff and departments, occasionally providing practical relief cover for work‑streams, operational areas, classes and clubs.
* Take responsibility for professional development, attending training courses as required.
* Lead by example, embodying Mustard Tree values and representing the charity as required.
* Contribute towards being an environmentally responsible organisation as part of day‑to‑day activities, including recycling and supporting our 'paper‑light' practices.
* Work within health & safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures.
* Other tasks and duties relevant to the role as required by the organisation.
