Job Description
We are excited to recruit a Community Organiser for our Springburn Parent Power project, based in the Springburn area of Glasgow. This role offers a meaningful, paid professional development opportunity. The Brilliant Club will work in partnership with the University of Strathclyde and Connect to engage with parents in Springburn.
Connect is a Scottish parental engagement charity focused on building strong partnerships between families, schools, and communities across Scotland to support children’s learning and wellbeing by providing information, advice, and training. Connect will use its existing networks to support The Brilliant Club in fostering relationships with local schools and engaging parents and carers in these communities.
The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 as “a place of useful learning” for all, with equality in access to higher education at the heart of its mission: ‘As a socially progressive and inclusive institution, we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds, recognising the barriers that exist for many, and we support our students to successfully overcome these. We remain committed to widening access and offering high-quality support to our students to ensure their successes.’ Strathclyde 2030: Outstanding education & student experience.
By 2025, the university aims to be a vibrant and diverse community of students and staff of all backgrounds, characteristics, and lived experiences, and the top research-intensive university in Scotland for widening access. Strathclyde is committed to a socially progressive ethos and embedding these values throughout its activities. The university will act as the anchor institution for the Parent Power chapters, providing meeting spaces and expertise, including university advice and guidance sessions for parents.
