Contract: Permanent (Following a successful 2-month probationary period)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Site Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of our market garden. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in gardening who enjoys being the anchor of a community space. You will be responsible for the physical upkeep of the site, ensuring it remains a productive and welcoming environment for volunteers and visitors from all walks of life.
We are looking for someone who can start in March 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Horticulture & Site Maintenance:
Crop Care: Lead the maintenance of outdoor beds and the polytunnel using regenerative/No-Dig methods. Ensure plants are healthy, watered, and productive.
Site Presentation: Ensure the site is kept tidy and safe, including the shop, patio, tool storage, and composting toilet area.
Community & Volunteer Support:
Inclusive Leadership: Lead and assist volunteers with daily tasks. As an inclusive space, the Coordinator must maintain a professional, patient, and friendly manner at all times, ensuring all participants feel supported and safe.
Customer Education: Act as a helpful point of contact for shop customers, selling produce and preserves while sharing knowledge of our growing methods.
Operations & Reliability:
Site Access: Full responsibility for opening the site on Wednesday mornings and ensuring a prompt, secure close Thursday through Saturday at 4:00pm.
Workshop Support: Assist facilitators in organising and preparing the teaching areas before sessions, and help ensure the space is reset and tidy afterwards.
Data & Impact: Document the garden's impact by weighing the harvest and recording visitor numbers accurately.

Person Specification:
Gardening Experience (Ideal): A strong background in food growing or gardening is highly preferred. We need someone who can manage crop maintenance with confidence.
Reliability & Professionalism: Exceptional punctuality and a steady, dependable approach to site responsibilities.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to remain calm and approachable in a busy setting. You should be comfortable managing a diverse range of people with a positive and patient outlook.
