Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Maternity Practice Development Team at Whittington Health as a Practice Development Midwife - Retention and MSSW Specialist Midwife. This is a full-time post, although job share opportunities are encouraged to offer a breadth of experience and knowledge to the team. The post holder will work closely with the PDM lead and the Practice Development Team, providing teaching and training to the multi-disciplinary team on various subjects covered in the Core Competency Framework Version 2. They will have a visible clinical presence, supporting midwives of all levels in clinical skills, as well as MSSW.

Job Description
Job responsibilities include:
* Responsibility for personal and professional development of all staff and learners within the Maternity team, in collaboration with senior staff.
* Facilitating practice learning through teaching, assessing, evaluation, and supporting clinical governance.
* Acting as a change agent within the multidisciplinary team to shape future Midwifery practice.
* Playing a pivotal role in education provision, acting as a role model and expert clinician.
* Working clinically alongside staff in Maternity for at least 50% of contracted time.
* Developing systems for preceptorship and clinical supervision.
* Leading recruitment and staff retention efforts.
Person Specification
Experience (Essential):
* At least 3 years' previous band 6 midwifery experience
* Experience in various clinical areas including recent intrapartum practice
* Experience in teaching and staff recruitment
Training and Education (Essential):
* Completed a mentor assessor SSSA course or equivalent
* Teaching experience and ongoing professional development
Skills & Abilities (Essential):
* Competent in IV drug administration, medicines management, cannulation, perineal suturing, and waterbirth
* IT literate (Word & Excel)
