The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a HR Data and Governance Lead. You will join the Corporate Services Group which is responsible for the effective delivery of Corporate Services to the MCA. Our Corporate Services Group includes Communications, Digital and Technology, Procurement, Finance and Analysis, Health & Safety and Sustainability, Human Resources (HR), Property & Facilities, Governance and Strategy, Protective Security and Information Assurance, Programme Management Office, and Internal Assurance.
You will become a key member of HR which is essential as an enabling function being responsible for the planning and delivery of the MCA's People Strategy and a full range of HR services including Organisational Design and Development, Talent Management, Employee Relations, Volunteer support, and Reward and Resourcing.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
1. Data Reporting, Insight and Assurance
* Leading the annual cycle of (circa 400) workforce reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency and reliability of all people data outputs.
* Overseeing data validation, quality assurance and scheduling, ensuring data protection principles are adhered to.
* Identifying trends (e.g., sickness, attrition, overtime) and provide evidence‑based insights to senior leaders.
* Working with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to ensure reports respond to current and future business performance issues, objectives and drivers
2. Governance, Risk and Compliance
* Facilitating the planning and timely delivery of information for Board papers, business cases, and reports pertaining to strategic KPIs
* Leading assurance processes across HR
* Monitoring and maintaining People & Safety business continuity plans, risk registers, audit actions and statutory compliance cycles
* Maintaining organisational readiness for audit and external scrutiny on HR matters.
3. Financial Management
* Monitoring c£4m cross‑functional budgetspend, forecasts and administration
4. Leadership and Team Management
* Leading and developing a small team delivering HR specific data, reporting and governance functions
5. Systems
* Designing and implementing new HR systems, processes and Apps to drive digitalisation and automation across the function
6. MCA People Strategy
* Acting as Secretariat for MCA People Group ensuring effective coordination and documentation of meetings
* Leading and delivering cross‑organisation projects which drive the delivery of the MCA People Strategy as required
* Providing project management for selected strategic HR projects.
