Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust Learning Disability Service. We are looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist keen to work with adults who have a Learning Disability (LD), who require specialist health support due to complex physical, sensory, communication and behavioural impairments.

The service runs Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Team members have access to full remote technology (phones and laptops) to support agile and hybrid working.

The successful candidate will be based within the West and South Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT), which is the larger of two teams. You will be an integral part of this Multi- Disciplinary Team (MDT) and you will receive clinical supervision from the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and management supervision from the Clinical Team Manager.

The LD service has clear clinical governance pathways and supports professional and service development. Both in- house and accredited training opportunities are available in areas such as, Sensory Integration and Positive Behavioural Support.

Main duties of the job

You will be a valued member of our highly supportive multi-disciplinary, community learning disability service and AHP community. You will manage an identified caseload of clients with a range of clinical needs.

You will be supported to develop your skills through MDT meetings, the occupational therapy practice development meetings and the AHP forum. You will provide supervision to a Band 5 Occupational Therapist in East/Northeast CLDT and will have the opportunity to access peer support with other Band 6 OTs across the Learning Disability Service. You will work alongside the other senior OTs within CLDT to provide in-reach occupational therapy input to the LD Intensive Support Team.

This is a community post so you will be required to travel across the West and South areas of Leeds for appointments in a range of settings such as specialised supported living services, respite services, day centres and homes. Please confirm in your application that you are a car driver with access to a vehicle for community visits.
