We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Design Lead to manage the end-to-end delivery of civil design on complex infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on the water and wastewater sector. You will lead multidisciplinary design teams, drive innovative solutions, and ensure technical excellence from concept through to construction support.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design coordination and delivery of infrastructure projects, primarily within the water and wastewater sector, ensuring alignment with client requirements, programme, and quality standards.
* Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to report on progress, risks, and design changes, contributing to project strategy and risk mitigation at the design stage.
* Act as the primary point of contact for design packages across both infrastructure and non-infrastructure elements.
* Manage design interfaces across disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, etc.) ensuring constructability and integration into construction methodologies.
* Support the development of CDM deliverables and ensure design risks are clearly identified and communicated.
* Oversee document control processes and quality systems to maintain clear and auditable design records.
* Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers and graduates, contributing to capability building within the team.
* Coordinate with wider business functions (e.g., procurement, construction, enabling works) to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.
* Promote and implement innovative design solutions that add value to the client and project delivery.
Requirements
Essential:
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Significant experience in civil design and design coordination within the UK water industry (e.g. working with Scottish Water, United Utilities, Thames Water, etc.).
* Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, health & safety, and risk management in design.
* Proven experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across all project stages.
* Familiarity with design document management and quality management systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to manage and mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative working environment.
Desirable:
* Chartered or working toward Chartership (ICE or equivalent).
* Experience in digital design tools, BIM, and collaborative platforms.
* Prior exposure to working on frameworks (e.g. MSP, DV2, AMP) is an advantage.
* Experience liaising with academic or research institutions and driving innovation in infrastructure delivery.
