We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Planning Manager to join our team within Vistry North Midlands, at our Castle Donington office. As our Assistant Planning Manager, you will deal with, and (under the guidance of the senior planning manager) be responsible for planning related matters within the regional business; designing and planning of our residential developments and managing the planning process to targeted objectives, so that we can gain planning consents, discharge conditions, and comply with our planning related obligations.

Responsibilities
* Under the guidance of the Senior Planning Manager, manage and positively contribute to the preparation of layouts and planning applications for all sites.
* Organise, programme, influence and manage project consultant design teams, ensuring projects are designed within tight timescales.
* Build excellent long-term relationships within the team, regional business, consultants and local authorities.
* Review, understand, interpret and comment on design information and reports to support project success.
* Understand the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and how it is calculated.
* Assist in discussions with Local Planning Authorities and external project teams; engage with the public and relevant stakeholders.
* Review local authority policies and NDSS requirements.
* Raising purchase orders and managing the planning budget for each project.
* Manage and maintain planning condition trackers; gather information, submit and push for discharge in a timely manner.
* Assist in preparation of planning appraisals for new land opportunities.
* Prepare design and planning briefs, tender packages and commission works by external consultants for planning applications.
* Provide an effective handover to the regional business at various stages of planning to ensure key matters are passed to the relevant teams.
* Submit and prepare non-material amendment and minor material amendment applications to amend planning permissions.
* Understand S106 agreements and keep trackers to ensure obligations are complied with.
* Ensure the team meets the Company’s health and safety commitments and attend relevant training.
* Maintain compliance with health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications and Experience

* Further education in Architecture or Planning related course, or in Design (e.g., Urban Layout, Landscape, Architectural Technology).
* Relevant experience in the industry; competent in Word, PDF, Excel, etc.; experience in people management and project leadership.
* Able to influence and persuade others; capable of implementing change and using initiative.
* Resilient, positive, confident and assertive but diplomatic; strong mathematical ability.
* Able to manage and lead a team of consultants; good communicator and listener.
* Awareness of social and environmental impact of work; accurate with attention to detail.
* Capable of strategic vision, decision making, problem solving and multi-tasking; able to work under pressure and accept feedback.
* Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as required.
Desirable
* MRTPI qualification or working towards it.
* Working towards a BSc or NVQ in Planning or Architectural Technology.
* Experience working within a residential house builder, planning consultancy or local authority.
