About the Project
Sizewell C (SZC) is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This ground-breaking nuclear power plant project in Suffolk will play a vital role in delivering a sustainable future. Backed by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation project with significant opportunities to innovate, grow, and deliver excellence.
The Role
The Assistant Project Manager reports directly to a Project Manager and is responsible for supporting the Project Manager and wider team in delivering activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a contract or work package assigned to them.
This role involves supporting the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, time, and cost parameters.
You’ll Be Primarily Responsible For:
* Supporting planning and delivery of the full life cycle of the contract or project work packages.
* Managing and developing engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery.
* Procurement and management of complex contracts.
* Controlling costs, risks, schedules, and changes, with proficiency in Earned Value management tools.
* Understanding PWR design and operations.
* Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, suppliers, and team members.
* Responding to tender queries and participating in supplier meetings, providing input to technical reviews.
* Developing good presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills.
* Managing and resolving issues within the contact or package promptly.
* Supporting interface with other programmes to ensure overall project progress and best practices.
* Ensuring the delivery of all scope-related deliverables.
Industry knowledge and experience in infrastructure are essential.
The Skills
* Degree and chartered status in engineering, construction, physics, or related fields.
* Experience in infrastructure project design and delivery.
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
* Experience with APM body of knowledge and Prince2 methodologies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Willingness to learn from successes and failures.
* Ability to re-prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
* Numerical and analytical skills.
