The post holder will be responsible for delivering a multi-skilled ancillary role to support Nursing services in a caring and compassionate manner respecting patients privacy and dignity at all times. This role involves working on internal rotation across 7 days a week and will includes some weekend and night work. Alongside the provision of direct clinical care, the post holder will alsoprovide an efficient, helpful, informative and supportive clinical receptionservice in support of the Integrated Urgent Care delivery.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include, amongst others; carrying out and recording patients observations, application of minor dressings, recording ECGs and phlebotomyand point of care testing as well as supporting the rest of the Healthcare team.
You will be required to assist Clinicians with home visits and therefore a full driving licence is desirable.
Previous patient facing experience is desirable.
Experience of computer based healthcare packages is advantageous, but not essential.
Full training will be provided.

To register all presenting serviceusers into the electronic system and comply with specific Initial AssessmentPathways and Procedures.
To work in close conjunction with theinitial assessment multi-disciplinary team to provide a seamless delivery ofcare to service users.
To undertake basic observations,record them appropriately in the medical record and act accordingly withqualified staff if needed.
To undertake near patient testingsuch as:
oUrinalysis
oHcGtesting
oDVT/CRPtesting
To carry out dressings and simplewound closure and wound care.
To act as clinical assistant anddriver, accompanying clinical staff on home visits as necessary. If on the rotaas clinical assistant for home visits the car should be left with a full petroltank at the end of the shift
To maintain skills andknowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to the latest guidelinesand best practice evidence available:
Maintain skills and keep up to datewith clinical developments and best practices in areas relevant to urgent caredelivery.
Undertake training appropriate to therole, as agreed with the Senior IUC HCA and Practice Development Matron, andensure that learning is shared and transferred into practice.
Act always within own skills andcompetence.
attend all mandatory training asrequired to fulfill duties.
To attend supervision and appraisalas directed.
Ensure the ongoing safety of serviceusers, staff and visitors through systematic assessment, monitoring andreviewing processes:
To maintain standards of infection,prevention and control within the organisation.
Ensure that clinical equipment ismaintained in a safe, clean and functional state, reporting any failures ordamage to the management team.
The IUC Healthcare Assistant Teamwill be responsible for standards of infection prevention and control (IPC)within the waiting room area and will be responsible for ensuring that anyspillages, including bodily fluids are attended to.
Report all accidents and incidentspromptly in accordance with local policies and procedures.
Safeguarding
Beknowledgeable about adult and child safeguarding policies and procedures,ensuring that they are up to date with these processes and complete training asrequired in liaison with the Senior IUC Healthcare Assistant and SafeguardingLead Matron.
Will maintain compliance with thesafeguarding mandatory training agenda and comply with any further training asnecessary
