Architectural Technician (RIBA Stage 2)
Location: Oxfordshire-based (remote-friendly, with regular site visits and client meetings)
Type: Permanent, full-time (or part-time by agreement)

Salary: £28,000 – £36,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Role
We’re looking for a capable and enthusiastic Architectural Technician to join our growing design team. You’ll focus on RIBA Stage 2 — preparing drawings and documentation for planning applications across a varied portfolio of tourism, hospitality, and rural estate projects. Just as important is your ability to engage confidently with clients: you’ll be a key point of contact, helping to translate ambitious briefs into clear, deliverable design proposals.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and develop architectural drawings to support planning applications, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, and sections.
* Contribute to design development at RIBA Stage 2, producing high-quality and accurate technical drawings.
* Liaise directly with clients to understand project briefs, communicate design progress, and manage expectations throughout the pre-application and planning stages.
* Coordinate with the wider Greenfinch team — including planners, project managers, and external consultants — to ensure drawings align with planning strategy and project objectives.
* Support the preparation of Design & Access Statements and other planning application documents.
* Attend site visits and client meetings, representing Greenfinch professionally and proactively.
* Maintain accurate project records, drawing registers, and version control.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology (or working towards it).
* Demonstrable experience preparing drawings for planning applications.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp — both are essential to this role.
* Strong communication skills and confidence in a client-facing role.
* Good understanding of the UK planning process and application requirements.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working on rural, leisure, hospitality, or heritage projects.
* Familiarity with RIBA project stages.
* Experience with Lumion for visualisation and rendered presentations.
Core Technical Skills
* AutoCAD — 2D drafting and technical drawing
* SketchUp — 3D modelling and design development
* Architectural drawing production at planning stage
* Design & Access Statement support
* Drawing version control and project administration
