Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to oversee daily operations within a care home specialising in senior and dementia care. The successful candidate will support the management team in delivering high-quality assisted living services, ensuring compliance with care standards, and fostering a compassionate environment for residents. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in nursing, home care, or senior care to develop their leadership skills within a supportive team. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in supervising staff, implementing care plans, and maintaining the smooth running of the care home. Assisting the manager with regular on call duties and covering care shifts were necessary to provide safe staffing levels.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Management team in coordinating and supervising daily operations of the care home
* Support the delivery of personalised care plans tailored to residents' individual needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care
* Oversee medication administration in accordance with legal and organisational policies
* Supervise and mentor care staff, promoting best practices in elderly and specialised dementia care
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and quality standards
* Assist with staff rotas, training programmes, and performance appraisals
* Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive resident care
* Contribute to maintaining a warm, respectful, and safe environment for residents and staff alike
* Support the organisation of activities that promote residents' well-being and engagement
* On call duties each week.
Experience
* Proven experience working within residential care, assisted living or nursing home environments, ideally with senior or dementia care
* Prior management or supervising experience within a care setting is essential
* Knowledge of care planning processes, medication administration, and health & safety regulations in a healthcare context
* Familiarity with Alzheimer's and dementia-specific care strategies is highly desirable
* Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in managing complex cases involving dementia or other cognitive impairments is advantageous
* A recognised qualification in nursing or social care (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4 in Health & Social Care) is preferred but not mandatory for all applicants
