Workshop Service Engineer – Nationwide Platforms
We are looking for a keen and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician or mechanic to join our team in a busy depot. The role involves inspecting, repairing and maintaining our powered access machines (booms, scissor lifts, etc.) to ensure they are ready for customer use. Full training will be provided, so we welcome candidates with a mechanical/electrical engineering background who have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
* Support the Senior Service Engineer in the effective running of the depot workshop.
* Carry out pre‑delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client premises and at depot as required, in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and company policy.
* Repair machines at depot or on site to meet manufacturer’s specification and company policy.
* Complete planned maintenance activities, maintaining the fleet to corporate standard.
* Hand over machines to customers and familiarise them with safe machine operation as per company procedures.
* Act as an ambassador for the company, providing high‑standard customer care and remaining polite at all times.
* Accurately complete all relevant paperwork including engineer’s report, off‑hire, pre/post‑delivery inspection and service sheets.
* Update the system on machine status changes (e.g., PDI completed, machine under repair, 6‑month statutory inspection completed).
Qualifications
* Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics and diagnostic fault‑finding.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure.
* Understanding of the importance of excellent customer service.
