Job description and responsibilities
The post holder will work under the direct supervision of a registered health care professional and be responsible for providing personal care for patients and performing a range of clinical duties within their trained scope of practice. Support patients who attend the OPD/Day Hospital unit, providing compassionate care, nutrition and hydration, and contributing to a clean and safe department.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment and implement policies and procedures accordingly. This vacancy requires an enhanced DBS check (cost £54.90) which will be deducted from the first Trust salary, and joining the DBS update service with an annual subscription (£16).
Person Specification
Experience (Essential):
* Experience working in a healthcare setting as a band 2 or equivalent
* Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team
* Experience of caring for patients
Experience (Desirable):
* Experience of supporting and supervising junior staff
* Experience of supporting Quality Improvement, audits or research and development activities
Education & Qualifications (Essential):
* Completed the National Care Certificate, or must complete within 3 months
* Functional skills Level 2 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent or working towards
* Care Certificate (or willingness to undertake)
* Able to undertake ECG, Venepuncture and observations without supervision
Education & Qualifications (Desirable):
* Previous experience in Acute care setting
Knowledge (Essential):
* Awareness of confidentiality and data protection
* Knowledge of Infection Control & safeguarding processes
Knowledge (Desirable):
* NHS healthcare challenges
Skills & Abilities (Essential):
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Competent in ECG, venepuncture and observations
* Ability to work in a team and on own initiative
* Basic IT skills with willingness to develop further
* Caring, friendly, empathetic and professional demeanour
Skills & Abilities (Desirable):
* Willingness to develop more IT skills
