Overview
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulatory Officer - Field Based - 31634. The Regulatory Officer role will be based in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) team within Batteries, WEEE and Shipments, part of Environmental Markets and Regulation. We’re a national team with officers based across England. National travel and overnight stays will be required. We regulate producers, reprocessors and exporters of waste to ensure compliance with their responsibilities under the Producer Responsibility regime.
The role is varied, vital and challenging. You will work as part of a dispersed team, but be self-motivated and disciplined. We are committed to being an inclusive employer and welcome flexible working patterns including job share.
Responsibilities
* Undertake audits (on-site and virtual)
* Take appropriate enforcement action when necessary
* Disrupt non-compliance
* Collate and analyse complex data to support evidence-based regulatory decisions
* Handle confidential and sensitive information in line with data protection guidelines
* Contribute to development and improvement of processes and procedures

Experience / Skills Required
* Effective, organised and able to prioritise; rational and composed
* IT/computer literate; comfortable with numbers and large data sets
* Passionate about the environment and willing to learn environmental regulation/enforcement
* Ability to handle confrontational situations
* Adapt communication style to suit others and work well in a team
* Record information accurately
Experience in the waste industry or regulatory roles is not necessary as full training will be provided. A degree is not required.
Licensing & Other Requirements
Full UK clean driving license is essential.
