In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring the quality and safety of our products by overseeing quality control activities within the production environment. You will work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products consistently meet regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards. This is a hands-on, site-based role offering the opportunity to develop your quality expertise while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement within our manufacturing operations. What you’ll do In this role, you will oversee daily quality control activities, ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products meet regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards. Oversee daily QC activities, including sample planning, testing coordination, result verification, and product release Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and maintain accurate QC documentation Support compliance with feed safety regulations, certification standards, and internal quality systems Collaborate with Production, QA, R&D, and Supply Chain to address quality issues and support continuous improvement Assist in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions Monitor quality data, identify trends, and support reporting of quality performance metrics Maintain accurate records including retention samples Who we’re looking for Experience managing a small team of up to 2 direct reports Experience working in quality control within a manufacturing environment such as feed, food, pharmaceutical, or related industries Basic understanding of feed safety regulations and quality management systems (e.g. FSSC 22000 or similar) Experience working in laboratory environments and handling quality documentation Comfortable analysing quality data and identifying trends Ability to collaborate with production teams and cross-functional stakeholders Experience with LIMS or other laboratory systems is an advantage but not essential A degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Animal Science, or a related scientific discipline is desirable Key skills and behaviours Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Structured approach to problem solving and root cause analysis Good organisational and prioritisation skills Clear and effective communication Collaborative mindset and ability to work across departments Commitment to quality, food safety, and continuous improvement Location & Practicalities Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England Work model: 100% on-site Employment type: Full-time What you’ll receive As part of Trouw Nutrition, you’ll be a member of the wider SHV family, a global group of companies known for long-term vision, stability, and investment in people.
