Job Title: Counselling Psychologist Band: 8a Location: Broxbourne, Hertfordshire Working Hours: 20 hours per week Rate: Competitive, to be discussed upon application We are seeking an enthusiastic Counselling Psychologist to work for our client's team based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately for a short-term contract. What will your responsibilities be? As the successful candidate, your key responsibilities will include to provide confidential, professional, therapeutic counselling for students and staff seeking help with personal and academic problems affecting their mental health, emotional and psychological functioning and well-being in line with the aims, limits and practices of the service. Maintain a professional caseload of clients, keep appropriate records and contribute to high quality service audit, evaluation and clinical management. Keep up to date with the best practices in brief counselling with a particular emphasis on assessment of need, choice of intervention, monitoring of progress and treatment and appropriate referral and liaison in line with the Counselling Service code of ethics. Experience of identifying risk, conducting mental health and risk assessments and referring risk issues immediately to UCS Team for further assessment and management. Undertake such duties as from time to time be required by the Director of the Counselling Service. Qualifications and Experiences: To be educated to degree level or equivalent. To have gained a counselling or psychological therapy qualification and be BACP, BABCP, UKCP or BPS accredited (or eligible for) or equivalent professional body with significant post-qualifying experience of working within the NHS/HE or similar. Up to date knowledge of developments in the field of counselling Experience of conducting mental health and risk assessments and managing crisis interventions. This would be done in liaison with UCS Team. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of current issues in mental health, wellbeing and psychological treatments, with a particular focus on higher education. Understanding of the diverse support needs of the changing student and academic community and a commitment to enhance the overall quality of the student experience. Experience of offering psycho-educational workshops and groups. A commitment to and experience of brief, focused counselling or psychological therapy and experience of one or more of the integrative or relational approaches. Counselling experience in one or more of the following areas: crisis counselling, student counselling, work place counselling. Demonstrable IT skills with the ability to use systems for recording and extracting Data How to apply?
