Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a Tier 1 main contractor delivering complex civil engineering works on the prestigious HS2 project.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on tunnelling, structural and RC frame packages across one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of major elements that will shape the country’s future transport network.
The Role
As a Section Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing technical delivery, quality assurance, and site coordination. Working closely with Sub Agents, Site Engineers, and the wider project team, you’ll ensure that packages are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the delivery of tunnelling, RC frame, and structures packages
Managing, mentoring, and supporting Site Engineers
Producing and reviewing ITPs, RAMS, and QA documentation
Overseeing setting out activities and ensuring as-built records are accurate
Coordinating with subcontractors, design teams, and client representatives
Driving health, safety, and environmental compliance on site
Monitoring programme progress and reporting to senior management
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
Proven experience on tunnelling, RC frame, or major structures projects
A civil engineering qualification (HNC/Degree preferred)
Experience working with a Tier 1 contractor on large-scale infrastructure schemes
Strong knowledge of QA processes and technical documentation
Proficiency in AutoCAD, GPS, and total station equipment
Valid CSCS card and right to work in the UK
