About the Business
This is an opportunity to become a Management Accountant within a well-established organisation in Lichfield, offering a varied and hands-on role in a collaborative finance team. You’ll support senior finance leaders by delivering meaningful financial insight, maintaining strong controls, and contributing to informed business decisions, while also mentoring team members and helping drive best practice across the function.
Main Duties:
As a Management Accountant, your main duties include:
* Mentor and support the management accounts team, encouraging strong performance and development.
* Produce accurate, timely, and reliable management accounts in line with strict reporting deadlines.
* Analyse variances between actual and budgeted results, providing clear commentary and insight.
* Present monthly financial results and key findings to senior management.
* Maintain ownership of selected balance sheet reconciliations.
* Support the ongoing maintenance of the fixed asset register.
* Identify financial risks and opportunities, including cost-saving and profitability improvements.
* Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
* Support the preparation and review of quarterly VAT returns.
* Act as a finance point of contact for other departments, supporting P&L queries and procurement activity.
* Ensure finance policies, procedures, and controls are adhered to and enhanced where appropriate.
* Stay up to date with relevant accounting standards and best practice.
* Maintain and support key finance systems, including core accounting and procurement platforms.
* Complete required statutory and regulatory reporting, including official statistical returns.
* Contribute to ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required.

What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage large data sets.
* Confident written and verbal communication skills, able to explain financial information clearly.
* Proven ability to review existing processes and recommend practical improvements.
* Advanced Excel skills with confidence working on complex models and reports.
