Senior Occupational Therapist role at GCG Group. Based at Dartmouth House, Birmingham, with additional sites in the region.
Options for Care are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to work at Dartmouth House, one of our mental health inpatient services in Birmingham. We have two further hospitals and a recovery home: Montague Court (18-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit, Edgbaston), Dartmouth House (16-bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit, Handsworth Wood), Stanford Court (19-bed male mental health high dependency inpatient unit based in Highgate), Orchard House (8-bed residential step-down recovery service, Erdington).
The successful candidate will be based at Dartmouth House and will be supported by the Head of Therapies.
Main duties of the job
* To plan and deliver a range of occupational therapy assessments and interventions promoting recovery and well-being for service-users with severe and enduring mental health needs.
* To co-ordinate and lead on provision of the therapeutic programme, including running both group and individual sessions.
* To work as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of the Head of Therapies, ensuring the occupational needs of the service-users are considered and addressed.
* To assist in running the Occupational Therapy team, providing management supervision to OTAs.
* To understand and implement the mission, vision and values of the organisation.

Person Specification
Essential
* Post registration experience working in inpatient rehabilitation and recovery settings.
* Experience of MOHOST as an assessment tool.
* Sound theoretical knowledge of Occupational Therapy and use of evidence-based practice.
* Awareness of current issues and legislation relevant to mental health.
* Ability to use assessment as part of the OT process.
* Able to demonstrate use of OT interventions relevant to inpatient rehabilitation group and individual work.
* Ability to use reflective practice.
* Supervisory/appraisal skills.
* Experience of being a practice educator.
Desirable
* 18 months experience working in mental health
* Experience working in a range of mental health settings.
* Risk assessment and risk management skills.
* Car driver/owner.
Qualifications
Essential
* BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, MSc Occupational Therapy or a Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Registration with HCPC
Desirable
* Relevant post graduate training courses.
* Food Safety Level 2.
* Member of RCOT
