Job Description:
Seeking a caring individual to be present overnight to assist and support a man who lives in the Newton area of Surrey.
GA is an energetic and fun guy to be around. He loves keeping busy, going to movies, swimming, going for walks and feeding ducks, watching airplanes at the airport, and WWE. He needs someone with a calm presence who can help him connect with his community and assist with his daily life and activities. He is close with his family, who are a big part of his network.
The successful candidate will have keen and accurate observation and assessment skills, be a quick study, able to follow instructions, and intuit what needs to be done. Must work effectively as a team member, participate in staff meetings, and genuinely connect with families.
This position suits someone with good boundaries and experience supporting someone who expresses himself with complex behaviors, as well as someone who is reliable and responsible. Successful hiring will depend on a successful interview with GA's family.
Duties and responsibilities
* Assist Gary when he is ready to go to bed
* Double check medication administration
* Assist/Respond if he gets up through the night
* Complete documentation
* Communicate concerns/issues to manager and fellow staff

Preferred Training or Experience
* Prior experience with supporting someone who expresses himself with complex behaviours to meet his needs.
* Ability to comprehend and follow support protocols and programs.
* Mandt or NVCI certification
* Very clear and effective communication skills.
* Excellent observational skills.
* Creative thinker, able to think several steps ahead.
Specific Training or Experience Required
* Supporting people with acquired brain injuries.
* Ability to motivate, encourage, and engage others.
* Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)

Sunday-Thursday 10:30pm - 08:30am
