Senior Business Development Manager – Energy Services

Location: UK wide travel

Salary: £75,000 plus package plus uncapped commission

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth in Energy Management Services, Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs), Demand Side Response (DSR), and Smart Grid participation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in generating £2m of annualised sales, building senior-level relationships, and positioning the company as the partner of choice for energy transformation.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Delivery

* Identify and secure new opportunities for energy management services, EPCs, DSR, and Smart Grid participation across private and public sectors.
* Achieve and exceed a personal sales target of £2m annualised revenue.
* Build a strong pipeline through self-generated leads, networking, and leveraging existing client relationships.
* Lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, bid development, pricing, presentations, negotiation, and contract closure.


Client Engagement

* Develop senior-level relationships with key decision-makers, including CFOs, COOs, Sustainability Directors, and Estate Managers.
* Understand client challenges in cost reduction, carbon reduction, compliance, and ESG, translating these into tailored solutions.
* Position the company as a long-term strategic partner by identifying cross-selling opportunities.


Internal Collaboration

* Work closely with technical specialists, solution architects, and delivery teams to scope compelling, deliverable solutions.
* Collaborate with marketing to support lead generation through campaigns, case studies, and thought leadership.
* Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to the leadership team via CRM tools.


Market & Sector Knowledge

* Stay informed on energy market trends, government policy, and funding mechanisms relevant to EPCs and sustainability.
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and roundtables, positioning the brand as a thought leader.


Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

* Proven track record in business development with consistent achievement of £1m+ annual sales targets.
* Strong knowledge of energy management, EPCs, DSR, or related sustainability services.
* Excellent commercial acumen, capable of shaping complex solutions and contracts.
* Skilled communicator with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and closing high-value deals.
* Ability to influence at C-suite level and build long-term client relationships.
* Strong proposal writing, bid management, and negotiation skills.
* Self-starter with high levels of motivation, resilience, and results orientation.


Qualifications:

* Degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or a related discipline (desirable).
* Professional memberships (e.g., Energy Institute, CIBSE, IEMA) advantageous.
* Evidence of CPD in energy management, decarbonisation, or sustainability fields preferred.
