An exciting opportunity has arisen within the pharmacy team at the Gilbert Bain Hospital for a registered pharmacy technician. Pharmacy technicians play a vital role in helping deliver pharmaceutical care and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.
You will assist in the supply of medicines to patients, working within the dispensary, distribution, vaccine holding centre and wards to provide a high quality, professional, patient-focused service.
For non-registered applicants we are offering the chance to combine study and work to become a qualified pharmacy technician. The pharmacy technician training programme is completed over a two year period and will consist of a Diploma in Pharmacy Services Level 7/8. You will be fully supported with study time, a workplace supervisor and support from the wider team.
On successful completion of the training programme you will be eligible to apply for pharmacy technician registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council and once registered you will be a pharmacy technician.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications for entry on to the course is national 5 or equivalent in English, Maths, Biology and Chemistry.
You should be caring, enthusiastic, have good attention to detail and a great team player. For non-registered applicants, no previous pharmacy experience is required; we are looking for the right applicant with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Salary and Benefits: Band 4 - £30,353 - £33,016 per annum, Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,482 per annum.
