Overview
Reporting to Dr. Frank Burmann, the post holder will be a member of a research group with responsibility for the provision of research support for the structural and functional analysis of bacterial and phage proteins. The post holder will also provide advice and guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including project students.
Responsibilities
This full‑time fixed‑term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 3.5 years in the first instance. The post holder will provide specialist knowledge in X‑ray crystallography and/or cryo‑EM, manage their own research and associated administrative tasks, produce publishable written work, present findings at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings. They will also follow and adapt experimental protocols, select appropriate methodologies, handle and assay toxic proteins, and contribute ideas within a collaborative research team.
The starting salary will be based on qualifications and relevant skills, and determined by available funding.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, have practical experience in recombinant protein purification, and be working toward a doctorate in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage research and administrative tasks are required.
