At Edgar Wood Academy, our central purpose is to help every student realise their academic potential. We believe every young person has the capacity to succeed, and we devote ourselves to improving student achievement through an unceasing focus on learning, teaching, and student support. Our students are challenged to achieve through high expectations within a "yes you can" culture, inspiring them to aspire and equipping them with greater choices in life.

We are proud that our values of Resilience, Respect, Empathy, and Responsibility underpin all that we do. We seek colleagues who will embed these values in their teaching, leadership, and interactions with students and staff.

We are seeking a passionate and committed Head of Drama to lead our Drama provision, creating a rich and varied curriculum that builds confidence, creativity, and academic excellence.

What we are looking for:

* A qualified teacher with experience teaching Drama in secondary education.
* A proven track record of raising standards of student attainment and achievement within a subject area.
* The ability to articulate departmental intent, ensure effective implementation, and evaluate its impact on students.
* Strong knowledge of successful teaching and learning strategies that meet the needs of all learners.
* The ability to develop effective, engaging schemes of work and assessments that ensure clear progression and prepare students for public examinations.
* Experience in using assessment data to monitor, evaluate, and drive student progress.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills to lead, motivate, and develop staff within the department.
* A commitment to fostering aspiration, resilience, and responsibility in all students.
* The drive to ensure Drama plays a major part in the wider life of the school, including performances, trips, and enrichment opportunities.

In return, we offer:

* A supportive and forward-thinking senior leadership team.
* Opportunities for professional development and career progression within Altus Education Partnership.
* The chance to shape, develop, and grow a subject within a developing and thriving school.
* A collaborative culture with high expectations and a relentless focus on student success.

If you are a dynamic teacher ready to take the next step into middle leadership, or an existing subject leader seeking a new challenge within a growing school, we would love to hear from you.

Join us in creating a Drama department that inspires creativity, confidence, and academic excellence through our values of Resilience, Empathy, and Responsibility.
