Job Description
As the Electrical Maintenance Engineer you will be tasked with the following:
Electrical Maintenance
* Perform planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime.
* Work with motors, drives, control panels, sensors, PLC systems, and associated electrical components.
* Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
* Carry out installation and commissioning of electrical equipment and upgrades.
Fault Finding & Troubleshooting
* Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
* Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults and recommending solutions.
* Use testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools.
Health & Safety Compliance
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
* Follow lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety standards.
* Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Preventative Maintenance & Reliability
* Support and execute preventative maintenance schedules.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
* Assist in improving equipment reliability and performance.
Collaboration
* Work closely with mechanical engineer, production teams, and other departments.
* Support production teams to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
* Participate in maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Electrical Maintenance Engineer should have:
* Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering)
* Strong electrical fault‑finding skills
* Knowledge of PLC systems and industrial electrical systems
* Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
* Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities environment
* Strong problem‑solving skills
Desirable
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
* PLC fault finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.)
* Experience with automation systems
* Experience with CMMS systems
* Multi‑skilled (basic mechanical knowledge)
