Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent almost a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!
As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.
We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!
The Role:
As a Server Engineer at Pixel Toys, you will play a central role in building the backend systems that power our next-generation mobile game. You’ll be part of the team developing a AAA mobile title, working on server architecture, shaping key technologies, and ensuring that systems perform at the highest level.
This is a hands-on role where your work will directly power the player experience. You’ll plan and build complete features, bring complex systems online, and fine-tune performance so everything runs smoothly. From optimising critical code to solving tough bottlenecks, you’ll make sure our games are built on a Server infrastructure that’s rock-solid, secure, and ready for anything.
Collaboration is key. You’ll work side by side with designers, artists, and developers, turning bold ideas into real, playable experiences. You’ll also have the chance to raise the bar across the team by sharing expertise, leading by example in code reviews, and helping to shape best practices that keep us ahead of the curve.
This is your chance to take ownership of the tech that powers a major mobile game and contribute to a culture that values innovation and quality.
About you:
With at least two years of professional experience in Server application development you will be proficient in C#, and you have a strong understanding of architecture patterns, coding standards, and development best practices.
You will be joining us with experience using monitoring tools (such as Datadog, Kibana, or PagerDuty), as well as a sound knowledge of CI/CD pipelines. You’ll also bring solid experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) as well as databases.
You will also be an excellent communicator, able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Above all though, you are someone with a genuine passion for games, a love of solving technical problems, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
