Job Title: Technical Manager - Process Engineering - Subject Matter Expert
Location: UK
Purpose of the Role: The Technical Manager will be a key member of the Engineering Management Team, providing technical leadership and driving business improvements in a specific area of expertise. The role involves developing proactive relationships with internal teams and external clients, supporting strategic engineering objectives, and driving initiatives that benefit the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drive strategy and add value to Galliford Try, accountable to the Engineering Leadership Team.
* Respond to business challenges requiring expert attention.
* Provide specialist advice on discipline-specific, scientific, technical, and engineering principles.
* Train and develop engineers within your discipline.
* Communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders, clients, and colleagues, especially when implementing innovative solutions.
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and support technical governance.
* Act as an internal disruptor and innovator, seeking industry-wide innovations to improve effectiveness.
* Support external consultancy development and client technical leadership.
* Assist in work-winning activities and develop industry networks.
* Maintain personal and organizational recognition in your expertise area.
* Develop and manage relationships, understanding wider organizational needs.
* Ensure compliance with Galliford Try’s policies and strategies, including SHE, Carbon, Digital, DfMA, and Innovation.
About You:
* Subject Matter Expert in a key engineering delivery or strategy area.
* Experience managing design functions internally and externally.
* Effective communicator at all levels, promoting best practices and innovation.
* Ability to lead initiatives, support design teams, and think critically.
* Collaborative, with strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
* Degree in Engineering or related field; professional membership is an advantage.
* Experience with digital technologies and software skills in MS Office.
