Job Role: Cloud Engineer Location: Barrow In Furness, Cumbria Salary: £50-55k PA Benefits Technology and Risk Recruitment (TRR) is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Cloud Engineer to support, maintain, and continuously improve their cloud and IT infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring the availability, security, and resilience of core IT services while supporting the organisation's wider technology strategy. The Role: The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the organisation's cloud infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, and aligned with best practice. You will work closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager and wider IT team to support business-critical systems and services. Key Responsibilities: Cloud Infrastructure & Availability Manage availability, performance, and capacity of cloud services. Monitor and diagnose issues using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics. Ensure agreed service levels for availability and performance are consistently met. Cloud Design & Security Design and implement Azure solutions aligned with architectural best practices. Apply security-by-design principles across all cloud services. Ensure solutions meet business continuity and disaster recovery requirements, including regular testing. Support & Operations Provide 2nd/3rd line support for cloud, infrastructure, and network-related issues. Manage incidents and problems through to resolution, documenting lessons learned. Provide guidance and knowledge sharing within the IT team. Networking Manage Azure networking components including Virtual Networks, Subnets, NSGs, and Firewalls. Maintain internal LAN and WAN connectivity to ensure stable and resilient network services. Monitor network performance and resolve issues in line with change control processes. Continuous Improvement & Compliance Research and recommend new cloud technologies to improve stability, performance, and security. Contribute to regulatory compliance, risk management, business continuity, and audit processes. Provide evidence and support internal and external audit requirements. Skills & Experience Required: Essential Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (VMs, Entra ID/Azure AD, Storage, Networking, Firewall, Backup). Experience supporting Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, Purview, Intune). Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Azure CLI for automation and administration. Experience with Azure networking (VNets, Subnets, NSGs). Strong understanding of cloud security best practices. Experience with monitoring and diagnostics tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics). Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and resilience planning. Experience with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, or similar database services. Desirable Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates or Terraform). Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. Azure cost management and optimisation. Microsoft automation tooling (Power Automate, Kubernetes). Experience with Intune, Autopilot, and broader M365 endpoint management. Why Apply?
