Location: Portsmouth Football Club – all PFC grounds required.
Hours of work: Full time (42.5 Hours Per Week)

Role Summary
Portsmouth Football Club is looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our team and play a vital role in fuelling our players, staff, and coaches for success on and off the pitch.
This is more than just a kitchen role – it's a chance to be part of an elite sporting environment, where the food you prepare will directly support performance, recovery, and wellbeing.
Working alongside our Performance Chef, you will help deliver fresh, nutritious meals for our Men's and Women's First Teams, Academy players, and coaching staff, while also supporting food operations across Pompey Health & Fitness Club. On days when the Performance Chef is away, you will take the lead in the kitchen – a fantastic stepping-stone opportunity for an ambitious chef ready to grow.
The role is primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work linked to the training and match schedule.
Your responsibilities will include:
The ideal candidate will:
* Preparing and cooking high-quality, nutritious meals for players and staff with minimal waste
* Leading the kitchen in the absence of the Performance Chef
* Contributing creative ideas to post-training menus and nutrition-focused dishes
* Supporting with catering for away games
* Educating players on nutrition and its role in performance
* Managing stock rotation, minimising wastage, and helping to control costs
* Ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen cleanliness
* Assisting with the reopening of the Pompey Health & Fitness Café and its ongoing food service.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* Proven experience in a busy, professional kitchen environment
* Strong background in fresh food cooking
* NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent)
* Food Hygiene Level 2, Food Safety Level 2, and Food Allergen certification
* Ability to thrive in a high-performance, fast-paced environment
Desirable:
A keen interest in sports nutrition and performance-focused catering
