Role Overview
As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll work within the Dispensary team to provide pharmaceutical services to patients across the Trust and external healthcare providers. You’ll support medication management, accuracy checking, and dispensary operations, ensuring timely and safe delivery of pharmacy supplies. Newly registered or soon-to-be qualified Pharmacy Technicians are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispense in-patient, out-patient, and discharge prescriptions in line with departmental guidelines
* Resolve pharmaceutical queries and refer to pharmacists when appropriate
* Counsel patients on correct medication use
* Perform daily stock checks and ensure proper storage and rotation of goods
* Evaluate returned pharmaceuticals for re-issue suitability
* Maintain consumable stock levels and workplace tidiness
* Respond to telephone and in-person queries professionally
* Participate in rota for late clinics, weekends, and bank holidays
* Support medicines reconciliation and final accuracy checking (when accredited)
* Assist with pharmacy services for external contracts (e.g., Sussex Ambulance Service, community units)
Required Skills and Experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences, or equivalent
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
* Experience in hospital or community dispensary
* Strong administrative and organisational skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software
* Excellent communication and attention to detail

* Understanding of clinical trials and medication regulations
