Randstad Education is seeking a committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to support students and teachers in a Leeds-based school. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive environment, enabling pupils' access to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and provide tailored support to pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
* Establish positive and constructive relationships with pupils.
* Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students.
* Encourage pupils to engage in teacher-led activities and interact with others.
* Foster a supportive, purposeful, and orderly learning environment.
* Monitor and record pupil progress and provide regular, detailed feedback to teachers
* Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with established policy.
* Provide administrative support, including photocopying, typing, filing, and routine marking.
* Supervise pupils during out-of-lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.
* Accompany teaching staff and pupils on school trips and visits as required.
Essential Requirements:
To be shortlisted for this role, you must demonstrate the following:
* Qualifications and Experience:
o Completion of the DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme, an NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants, or an appropriate level of experience operating in a classroom environment is desirable.
o Experience working with children of a relevant age.
* Skills:
o Good numeracy and literacy skills.
o Effective use of ICT to support learning.
o The ability to relate well to both children and adults.
o The ability to work constructively as part of a team.
* Knowledge:
o A basic understanding of child development and learning.
o A general understanding of the national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
o An understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
Desirable Requirements:
* GCSE Grades A-C or CSE level 1 in Maths and/or English.
* First aid training.
* An understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
