In the fast-paced world of FinTech open banking, where innovation meets financial services, we are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our team in London. You will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our backend infrastructure to support our growing suite of financial services.

Requirements
Key Tasks …
1. Build and maintain highly scalable and secure web applications, services, and APIs
2. Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to gather and refine specifications and requirements
3. Collaborate with Support and CSM functions to troubleshoot and debug customer issues
4. Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, promote knowledge sharing, and ensure high development standards across the organisation.
5. Write well-structured, reliable, efficient and easily maintainable code
6. Learn about Open Banking and PSD and the different things you can build with the APIs provided
This list is not exhaustive, and there may be other tasks that we ask you to be involved in from time to time. Above all, you are flexible and want to add value wherever you can. You understand that in a start-up, priorities change and we all need to be adaptable. Not only will you be comfortable when asked to input and lead in other areas, but you’ll be comfortable being a self-starter and instigating changes yourself.
For your new role
7. You have experience with Java and Spring Framework
8. You have experience with Kubernetes and micro services
9. You can comfortably debug a distributed system using distributed tracing
10. You can design a RESTful API and list all the pros and cons of your design
11. You have an API-first product mindset: you care about customer outcomes and you like to listen to their use-cases before diving into code
12. You can drive an initiative on your own, and you are also able support your team’s goals
13. You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. (5+ years of working experience)
14. You are driven and curious. You ask questions and you strive to understand.
15. You understand that the team will have different strengths. You’re happy to learn from them and to share your expertise.
16. You are comfortable with the pace, ambiguity, and the need to be a self-starter that comes with working in a start-up.
