Electrical Engineer – Leicester
Salary: c£45k and benefits.
Our client is a global market leader in the design and manufacture of niche electrical solutions, with a century of experience and an ongoing strategic growth programme. They are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to join their skilled, professional team.
Responsibilities
* Review design requirements and produce design calculations and associated production documentation.
* Approve drawings, BOMs and other design information issued for manufacture; participate in R&D and product testing as required.
* Select electrical components for use in control systems.
* Create 3D models (primarily sheet‑metal parts) and assemblies, and issue designs for manufacture through engineering drawings and supplementary documentation.
* Carry out detailed electrical design work, including design verification testing; review and approve design information from other team members, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and using Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) to document changes.
* Conduct technical investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and initiate corrective actions as required; provide technical support to Production, Sales, Service and Customer Support departments.
* Deliver projects on schedule and within budget while managing complex workloads, ensuring compliance with applicable design, regulatory and industry standards, and identifying and applying new industry‑wide processes where beneficial.
Qualifications
* At least 4 years of experience in an electrical design position.
* Qualified to HND level or above (or QBE) in an electrical engineering discipline.
* Familiarity with CE marking processes and DFMEA.
* Proven experience designing electrical equipment and/or machinery.
* Comprehensive skills in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
* Solid experience using the Microsoft Suite and exceptional communication skills at all levels.
* Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices (materials, FEA, fixings, fabrication, etc.) and of designing MV assemblies and using HV test techniques.
