About The Team

The Asset Recovery Team consists of officers and staff who are Financial Investigators with Confiscation powers. The role of the unit is to work with the criminal investigation teams to identify assets and use powers under the Proceeds of Crime Act to restrain, confiscate and realise through enforcement to compensate victims of crime or invest in law enforcement.

The team use powers under part 2, 5 and 8 of POCA to disrupt criminality in the City of London and nationally in support of the force’s role as National Lead Force for Cyber and Economic Crime.

About The Role

To be one of two supervisors leading a team of Detectives and Accredited Financial Investigators responsible for the tracing and subsequent confiscation of criminal assets. You will supervise and direct complex financial investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 from referrals across the force, including confiscation and part 5 seizures to support asset recovery, including subsequent enforcement.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:


* Reviewing live investigations across the force for opportunities for confiscation or the use of CRiSP powers.
* Directing and supervising POCA investigations of those you manage.
* Administering the NCA accreditation of CoLP’s (A)FIs.
* Producing management information to support the leadership team.
* Supervising responses to Defence Against Money Laundering SARS

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

* Experienced financial investigator with extensive knowledge POCA powers with NCA accreditation (those with suspended powers will be considered within a 2 year period of the suspension).
* Highly motivated leader with proven experience in leading investigative multi-skilled teams
* It is desirable that you will have recent practical experience of confiscation under part 2 of POCA; and Civil Recovery in Summary Proceedings under Part 5 of POCA, or having managed others carrying out these investigations.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

This role supports part time working and job shares.
