Job Overview

1. Primarily responsible for assisting management to ensure that Mitie operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Implementing the integrated business management system; ensuring a robust and efficient system is maintained, which complies with the requirements of the business and third party quality, health, safety and environmental accreditations.
3. Identifying and minimising the risk of accidents to persons, property or the environment.
4. Supporting all parts of the QHSE function when required including investigations, meetings, audits and training as a minimum to ensure that the QHSE function across Group is efficient and pragmatic as possible.

Main Duties

5. Identify & implement strategies to reduce risk for Mitie companies and our clients.
6. Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation and codes of practice applicable to the company's business.
7. Ensure operational managers and personnel have the appropriate technical competence to work safely by the identification and provision of formal training needs.
8. Assist operational managers with the identification and development of practical and effective safe working practices.
9. Provide advice and guidance to operational managers and employees on QHSE matters.
10. Ensure operational managers of the company are aware of their legal and company responsibilities.
11. Carry out assessments that are outside the competence of operational managers ie Significant Risk, COSHH, DSE and other assessments.
12. Investigation of accidents and incidents and production of statistical information in relation to QHSE performance.
13. Investigate and manage all QHSE documentation relating to potential/actual insurance claims.
14. Assist in contract mobilisations to ensure all QHSE matters have been appropriately considered and controlled.
15. Work with the QHSE team to develop and implement QHSE strategies to meet divisional and group objectives.
16. Produce QHSE reports as requested by the QHSE Lead within the requested timeframes.
17. Attend Regional and National meetings as required to represent the QHSE agenda.
18. In conjunction with the QHSE team establish and maintain the Regional QHSE forums to enable engagement and communication with employees.
19. Where required in consultation with line manager liaise with relevant enforcing authorities.
20. Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation and codes of practice applicable to the company's business.
21. Develop an understanding of the Mitie Intranet in order to access relevant documentation.
22. Attend performance appraisals and work to agreed personal improvement and development plans.

What we are looking for

23. Represent QHSE Lead as required in their absence.
24. Any other reasonable “ad hoc” duties as required by the needs of the business.
25. Good standard of written English.
26. Good verbal communication skills.
27. Computer literate (Word, XL Spread sheets).
28. Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative.
29. NEBOSH Certificate /equivalent or above.
30. Environmental Management.
31. Experience of industrial work & work at heights.
32. Experience of Integrated Facilities Management sector, in particular Hard or Soft Services where applicable
33. Tech IOSH working towards Grad IOSH
34. Full UK driving licence.
35. Experience of multi-site, multi-discipline organisations.
36. Detailed knowledge of risk assessment and management.
37. Work in a commercial, client-facing environment.
38. Ability to manage meetings.
39. Able to deliver training on a range of subjects to varying abilities.
40. Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
41. Able to work as part of a team.
42. Diplomatic and personable.
43. Good management skills.
44. Flexible approach to work patterns and working away or travelling where required
