An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse/AHP professional to join the University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Adult Safeguarding Team. The role involves providing safeguarding support across three sites: St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, Worthing Hospital in Worthing, and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea.
The Adult Safeguarding Team is a progressive group dedicated to ensuring the Trust meets its responsibilities for safeguarding adults at risk. The successful applicant will offer specialist advice to staff, services, and service users on safeguarding issues, and act as a point of contact for concerns about adults at risk of abuse.
The role requires excellent partnership working with Local Authorities and Multi Agency Partners to protect adults at risk. Responsibilities include supporting staff with adherence to the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Prevent, domestic violence protocols, restraint/restriction practices, and learning disabilities.
Main duties include:
1. Providing advice and support on safeguarding adults at risk, including response and prevention strategies.
2. Maintaining clinical presence to recognize safeguarding issues and vulnerable adults needing protection.
3. Supporting staff to implement good safeguarding practices.
4. Conducting initial reviews of safeguarding alerts and determining necessary actions.
5. Referring safeguarding concerns to relevant agencies and working in partnership to ensure safety.
6. Promoting effective communication and good practice among NHS Trusts and partner agencies.
7. Developing safeguarding plans and overseeing information gathering.
8. Identifying scope and terms for safeguarding enquiries under the Care Act 2014, applying eligibility criteria, and maintaining records.
