Head of Accounts & HR | Dorking An excellent opportunity to join a long-established, family-run personal injury practice at a pivotal point in its growth. The firm is entering a new phase of investment and modernisation under a second-generation owner, and this role offers the chance to play a central part in shaping its operational and people infrastructure. What You'll Be Doing You'll work closely with the owner and the Chief Legal Officer to ensure the smooth running of both the Accounts and HR functions. This is a varied, hands-on operational role where your work will directly support the firm's day-to-day performance and long-term growth plans. Your responsibilities will include: Accounts * Managing profit-and-loss recording and overseeing financial accuracy * Handling credit control, bank reconciliation and client account processes * Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and liaising with external accountants * Monitoring and managing costs during a period of planned growth * Managing expense control for staff * Running payroll, PAYE and pension administration HR * Leading recruitment activity, from drafting adverts to screening and interviewing * Supporting the onboarding process for all new joiners * Coordinating staff reviews, one-to-ones and performance discussions * Formalising and improving existing training and HR processes * Supporting the senior management team with communication of targets and training initiatives * Planning quarterly socials and Christmas events * Managing holiday requests, overtime and additional pay administration About You You'll bring at least two years' experience in either accounts, bookkeeping or human resources, and you'll enjoy a role that blends both disciplines. You'll be organised, proactive and comfortable working closely with senior leadership to maintain standards, support staff and help build structure within a growing business. You'll be someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of operational tasks and is confident communicating with people at all levels across the firm.
