Safety is the term we use to refer to the space where operations and security overlap. Safety practitioners are those rare individuals that understand both operations and security. As a safety practitioner you would partner with service teams to identify areas that could be improved to deliver better, safer outcomes for our customers. That means driving improvements in tools, processes, and engineering. Safety practitioners are our chief problem finders and solution developers. They work as members of service teams, earning trust and helping to deliver solutions to real business challenges.
The safety practitioner is a senior role within the security and operations space. Working hand in hand with systems architects and engineering leadership to develop deep understanding of how and why systems function the way they do, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving change within the service or the wider business overall.
Successful candidates must demonstrate understanding of distributed systems, making technical tradeoffs, and driving consensus among engineering leadership. The safety role is novel in the industry, there’s no pre-canned people ready to fill it. Safety embeds need to understand both operations and security.
