About the Department
The Client Technology team at Aberdeen focuses on delivering exceptional experiences for colleagues and clients by placing them at the centre of everything we do. The Technology function drives the strategic direction and management of all IT systems, including system design, programming, network and budget planning, database management, and operations. The Application Development & Support area develops and maintains all internal and external applications, while the Web, Mobile, and Front-End team ensures seamless user experiences through expert design and support of distributed, object-oriented systems.
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and technically strong Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Client Technology team, focusing on the Azure-based application layer that powers our web-based client solutions. As the digital “shop window” for our clients, this team plays a pivotal role in delivering seamless, high-performing, and secure technology experiences.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about building cloud-integrated applications on Microsoft Azure, proactively solving complex technical challenges, and developing innovative solutions using modern Microsoft technologies. You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting backend services and infrastructure that deliver scalable, secure, and highly reliable web solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain Azure-based applications that power client-facing solutions.
* Build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services using Microsoft Azure and .NET technologies.
* Design and develop APIs (including OpenAPI and OAuth).
* Implement automation and scripting using SQL, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.
* Support infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform.
* Design and manage CI/CD workflows through Azure DevOps.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, efficient, and compliant solutions.
* Troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance application performance across the Azure ecosystem.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
About the Candidate
* Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including Storage Account, Networking, App Services, Key Vault, and Managed Identities.
* Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting (Azure CLI, PowerShell).
* Proficient in designing and developing APIs using .NET technologies (OpenAPI, OAuth).
* Experience within infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform).
* Proficient in designing and managing CI/CD workflows within Azure DevOps.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to development.
* Solid understanding of security, compliance, and agile delivery.
* Passionate about learning new technologies and sharing knowledge across the team.
* Collaborative team player with the ability to mentor and support others.
Additional Desirable Skills
* Experience of C#, Azure Function Apps
* Experience of data orchestration tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory)
* Experience of .NET 8 and above
* Experience of GraphQL
* Exposure to Snowflake or DBT
