About the Role
The Safety & Security Department is part of the Office of the Secretary and Clerk. The head is responsible for strategic direction and ongoing operational management of the department.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a Safety & Security Department of over 35 staff across four campuses.
* Accountable for security provision and manage external security contracts.
* Plan and deliver Annual Emergency Exercise and lead on Emergency Planning.
* Communicate complex information sensitively to stakeholders.
* Drive continuous improvement and seek efficiency enhancements.
Qualifications
* Higher degree or relevant professional/degree level qualification (chartered where appropriate).
* Demonstrable professional experience managing a large customer‑facing team.
* Knowledge of security best practices and experience in an education environment.
* Competent IT skills, customer‑centric ethos, and strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
* Commitment to the university’s values and ability to contribute to collective service life.
