Maths Teacher – SEMH

A specialist secondary SEMH setting is seeking a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher to join a supportive, skilled team working with young people aged 11–16. About the pupils
Our pupils have often experienced disrupted education and face challenges linked to social, emotional and mental health needs, including trauma, anxiety, ADHD and autism. They thrive in small classes where relationships, routine and consistency are prioritised. With the right support, these young people are capable of meaningful progress—academically and personally.
About the role
You will teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting lessons to meet individual needs and learning styles. You’ll be supported by experienced support staff and leaders who understand the realities of SEMH education and value reflective, trauma-informed practice.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering engaging, accessible Maths lessons that build confidence and achievement
* Using calm, restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support behaviour
* Developing strong, trusting relationships that encourage re-engagement with learning
* Collaborating with support staff, therapists and senior leaders to implement personalised plans
* Tracking progress and contributing to reviews, assessments and next-step planning

* Monday to Friday, full-time, part time may be considered for the right fit

Who this role is for
This position would suit a patient, reflective and compassionate Maths Teacher who wants their teaching to have lasting impact. Experience in SEMH or alternative provision is welcome but not essential—what matters most is the right mindset, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
