Vicar

Emmanuel Church & All Saints Barmston

Emmanuel is a busy church, full of life and creativity and we have been encouraged to see many lives touched and transformed by God. As a church family we seek to love and worship God, trusting that he will inspire and equip us for mission. Our parish is very mixed and we have a range of ministries to serve them. We seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing God’s healing to others and being seen as a place where everyone is welcome. Our modern building enables a range of ministries and is a hub for our local community with many people, of all ages, crossing our door each week.

We seek to be a house of prayer and encourage the personal and spiritual growth of every member. We enjoy worshipping God together, in order that God will equip us to achieve our full potential and fulfil His purpose for our lives and His Church. We support All Saints, our sister church, as they maintain God’s presence in their village and serve both villagers and tourists alike.

Main Responsibilities

1. To build a community of bible believing Christians who love and serve God and their community
2. To deliver biblical teaching that equips for mission
3. To lead collaboratively, giving time to support and enable the Leadership Team in their ministries
4. To grow disciples who are growing in prayerfulness and personal maturity
5. To deepen Emmanuel’s commitment to serve the local community and to lead by example
6. To lead and pastor the church and wider community in Barmston
7. To encourage generosity in church members and through the PCCs
8. To play and full and active part in the life of the deanery

About Us

Our mission and ministry relies on thousands of people - lay and ordained, volunteer and paid. Our diocesan teams provide a wide range of support services to our mission and ministry, including lifelong learning for ministry, the care of church buildings, and safeguarding. Together, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. We want to be a simpler, bolder, humbler church which in its diversity reflects the communities it serves. We are bringing renewed focus and fresh energy to achieving our aims:

* Becoming more like Christ
* Reaching those we currently don't
* Growing missionary disciples who are younger and more diverse
* Transforming our finances and structures

Our approach is aligned with a commitment to the best of our parochial inheritance, to the poorest communities, and to the financial realities we face.

Under current immigration rules, it is not generally possible for us to appoint clergy who are not already eligible to work in the UK.

The Diocese of York is is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. Find out more here:
