Job Specification - Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer
Role Overview
The Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer will deliver planned and reactive maintenance across retail superstore environments, working primarily on commercial air conditioning and cooling systems. The role is predominantly service and repair focused, with limited installation work.
Key Responsibilities
Service, fault-find, and repair commercial air conditioning systems.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive call-outs.
Work on a range of equipment including split systems, VRF/VRV, and packaged units.
Handle manual compressors and manufacturer-specific systems (e.g. Airedale, DX Cooling).
Accurately complete job reports, compliance documentation, and service records.
Liaise professionally with clients and internal support teams.
Participate in the regional on-call rota when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience working on commercial air conditioning systems.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
Experience in a mobile service and repair role.
Good understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
Experience within retail or facilities management environments.
Manufacturer training or experience with Airedale/DX systems.
Multi-skilled background (gas or electrical exposure beneficial).
Additional Information
Participation in a structured regional on-call rota (one engineer per region).
On-call retainer and enhanced rates apply.
Company vehicle provided; vehicles are fitted with safety cameras (no live monitoring or audio).
Call-out demand is seasonal, with higher volumes typically in winter.
