The Data Protection Coordinator is part of the Data Protection team within the Legal & Compliance function. You will lead the operational delivery of Asda’s data subject rights programme, supported by a Data Protection Manager. Your role includes supporting a Data Subject Rights Assistant, reviewing contacts from individuals exercising their data rights, advising on responses to subject access requests, and handling related queries and concerns. You will also manage escalations and coordinate responses to ensure timely compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily operations of Asda’s data subject rights programme and act as the primary escalation point for the Data Subject Rights Assistant.
2. Triaging and coordinating responses to data subject contacts, ensuring proper work allocation.
3. Record requests and contacts in OneTrust, review the work queue daily, and track progress to meet deadlines.
4. Oversee the workload of a Data Subject Rights Assistant, assist with prioritisation, and provide guidance on complex requests.
5. Review and complete complex subject access requests.
6. Respond to escalated questions and concerns from data subjects.
7. Support the Data Protection Manager with ICO correspondence and incident responses, helping prepare necessary records.
8. Maintain data subject rights records, processes, and documentation.
9. Provide advice on data subject rights to the wider business and escalate queries when appropriate.
10. Assist with team administration and support projects related to data protection strategy.
Ideal Candidate:
* Basic knowledge of data protection principles and experience handling data subject rights requests.
* Willingness to learn more about data protection compliance.
* Customer service experience, with ability to engage directly with customers and colleagues.
* Line management experience is preferred but not essential.
* Attention to detail, teamwork skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive in offering ideas and solutions.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate effectively.
* Digitally savvy, proficient with Microsoft Office, and adaptable to new software.
* Knowledge of OneTrust is advantageous.
* Proven ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
* Problem-solving skills with a focus on operational improvements.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement.
