Bank Community Health Navigator – The Orbital
We are looking for a flexible bank community health navigator to support patients and the public in the BSW (B&NES, Swindon and Wiltshire) Community Health Services Single Point of Access (SPA). The role is based at The Orbital Shopping Park, Swindon, SN25 4AN.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the first point of contact for service users via telephone, email and post.
* Assess information, determine urgency and signpost callers to the appropriate community health service.
* Handle sensitive and confidential information with empathy and professionalism.
* Accurately update patient records and IT systems, process referrals and correspondence.
* Register, cancel and reschedule clinical appointments ensuring waiting‑time targets are met.
* Escalate urgent or incomplete referrals to the suitable healthcare professional.
* Provide administrative support to clinicians and managers.
* Work flexibly as part of a supportive team, covering shifts 12:00pm–4:00pm and 4:00pm–8:00pm during bank hours 8:00am–8:00pm.
Essential Criteria
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade AC.
* Previous administrative experience.
* Confident use of IT systems with strong keyboard skills and accuracy.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work with sensitivity, discretion and confidentiality.
* Well‑organised and able to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
* Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
* NVQ Level 2 in Administration and/or Customer Services (or equivalent).
* Experience within health or social care.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Experience using clinical systems or databases.
