Specialist Pharmacy Technician Clinical Trials

To manage pharmacy aspects of clinical trials across all hospital sites within University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, and supervise pharmacy assistants, PTPTs, rotational pharmacy technicians, and trainee pharmacists working within pharmacy clinical trials.
Main duties
* Ensure all dispensed clinical trial drugs comply with UK legislation, MHRA regulations, national & local guidelines and practices.
* Ensure patients receive their therapy in a safe and timely manner.
* Conduct feasibility reviews and assessments for any clinical trial involving pharmacy and share results with the clinical trials team.
* Support implementation of new services and regional and national initiatives, such as the HRA Technical Review and EDGE Trial Management System.
* Assist Lead Technician Clinical Trials to organise the trials workload within pharmacy efficiently and timely, including advance planning.
* Develop the clinical trials service and proactively introduce new products and systems.
* Participate in regular audits and reviews of clinical trials and standards and processes.
* Participate in issues relating to clinical trials governance.
About us
We are the Clinical Trials team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. We work closely with the Research and Development team, and are involved in the initiation of all clinical trials with a pharmaceutical component across numerous specialities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy technicians or equivalent.
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Good Clinical Practice Training (GCP).
Experience
* Significant post registration experience working in a busy pharmacy department in primary or secondary care.
* Evidence of training healthcare professionals and other staff groups.
* Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department.
* Experience of pharmacy clinical trials.
* Ability to analyse and interpret prescriptions, identify problems and decide upon an appropriate course of action.
* Demonstrated ability to work methodically and accurately.
* Experience of using Wellsky pharmacy computer system.
* Experience of using Edge – clinical trials management system.
Knowledge
* Good understanding of pharmacy law and ethics, roles and responsibilities.
* Knowledge of the legal aspects of final accuracy checking and the law relating to prescriptions.
* Understanding of clinical trials legislation.

* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Good working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
